The annual Triangular competition between Foxhills, Camberley Heath and Windlesham took place yesterday with a winning result for Foxhills.This competition began on 2000 and is a 27 hole event with 9 holes being played at each of the above clubs on the same day. In appalling conditions at West Surrey last Saturday 24th October, our own Jane Walker played a thrilling match against Jose Kellenburger of Camberley Heath in the finals of the S.L.C.G.A. Spring Knock-out. In spite of Jane’s great play Jose never gave up, holing an amazing putt at the 16th to continue the match. However Jane’ s power and [...] Foxhills Centenary Bowl team today won their matches to bring the Centenary Bowl back to Foxhills ! The S.L.C.G.A. Centenary Bowl competition is a Scratch Knock-Out Competition between representative teams of five players of handicaps 10 and above with home and away matches in each round, until the final round. The competition started in 2000 and Foxhills [...] Our super stars, Committee member Colin Smith and his partner our scratch champion, Jamie Puddle, won their semi final and then the final on Sunday at Hindhead. They are now the Surrey Foursomes Champions, a title we hope they will defend next year. This is the first time our Men’s representatives have been so successful and [...] All those members who have been successful in our monthly medal competitions and the individual other events, such as the Autumn Classic, Bogey Day, New Millennium Cup played in the All Winners day on Sunday 20th September. The Adult competition was followed by the Junior event. There were some very good scores posted but the net 68 posted [...] After over six months of competition most of our knock out finals were concluded today. The O’Connor Bowl was the longest match and was finally won by Jeff Fifield who beat Iqbal Dhanji on the 38th hole. The other Men’s singles event, The Rees Trophy was won by David Sargent who beat Martin Williams. Jane Walker won the Dormy House [...] In the Surrey County Golf competitions our Kelso- Hamilton pairs of Steen Olsen & Tony Dennis lost in the semi finals at Cranliegh while our representatives, Rob Anderson & Emile Charbine also lost at Clandon Regis so sadly we will not have a Foxhills final this year. We were the only club with two teams still playing, [...] The Foxhills team captained by Jane Walker won four out of their five matches against Puttenham at home last Sunday, which gave them a great start. The return match at Puttenham on Wednesday was anything but easy: in difficult conditions on a tricky course and although it looked as though Sharon Puddle playing the first match was [...] Mike played in the Canadian Amputees Championships at Greenhills Golf Club in London, Ontario recently, recording rounds of 81: 86 and 79 on the final day. He was placed sixth overall, second place in the above the knee category and was the first placed senior player. Congratulations and well [...] I had a fabulous day on Sunday – the weather was perfect and I played in a fourball with Paul , Roger Hyder and Marc Hayton. Thanks to Golf Services the gazebo was in place and the rope for the straightest drive was pinned down on the 17th. The spot prize [...] After winning the semi final, in less than perfect conditions, last Friday our junior team of Bridger, Tom Ash and Paul Wilmore began the finals in the afternoon against Camberley heath only to have the competition abandoned, as the weather conditions deteriorated. It meant that they all had to return to Burhill Golf Club on Tuesday [...] Once again there were some tremendous results posted: Paul Graham came in with a 66 on Saturday, a superb score only to be bettered by Lorna Webb and Martin Willaims with 65s. They all played in the final group on Sunday and once again Lorna produced a fine score to be the worthy winner. Second place went to Amy Ha [...] Foxhills must have another first! Our Club Champions, scratch, this year are Mrs & Mr Puddle, Sharon and Jamie to most of us. After the May and July medals they finally emerged as winners after the fourth round on Bernard Hunt course last Sunday 12th July. Sharon played very well in the afternoon having almost let it slip away on [...] Friday 10th July saw the Foxhills team of ten mixed pairs win the Triangualr Cup to go into the lead of team success: until Friday each of the clubs had won on three occasions. I was delighted that our team acheived the goal and followed the successes of captains Gordon Phillips, Paul Searle and Paul Suchley. I am equally proud the our Mens team beat Fulwell in an away macth six nil. Thanks to all club members representing us, proving how strong the club is in depth. [...] |
